User Guide

Everything you need to use Shortlist This — from the free clean-up to Pro filters, upgrading, and troubleshooting.

Getting started

Shortlist This works on Amazon.com and Amazon.de search result pages and analyzes them only when you ask it to.

  • Coming soon: Shortlist This is not yet available in the Chrome Web Store. This guide will be ready when the extension launches.
  • Search for a product on Amazon as you normally would. A Shortlist This Page button appears on supported search pages, and the toolbar icon opens the same panel.
  • No account, sign-up, or configuration is needed. The free clean-up works immediately.

The free clean-up

Click Clean This Page — Free without setting any filters. Shortlist This reads the product cards already loaded on the page and returns a ranked list with:

  • sponsored listings hidden,
  • duplicate listings grouped (the strongest listing represents the group),
  • a neutral, transparent score for every product, with a full breakdown and a plain-language explanation.

The free clean-up shows the top 3 of the ranked shortlist and always tells you how many more products qualified. It is free forever and never counts against your Pro trial. Pro unlocks the full top 5–10 shortlist.

Pro filters

Pro filters turn the clean-up into your shortlist. Set any combination of:

  • Maximum price, minimum rating, and minimum review count,
  • Brand — restrict to established brands recognized for the detected category,
  • Prime — require Prime availability,
  • Feature filters — product features Shortlist This detected on this very page, such as wattage, battery life, or “milk frother”, offered only when enough products state them.

Click Create My Shortlist. Products failing a filter are removed with a stated reason, and the rest are ranked into the full top 5–10 shortlist. The Applied filters section in the results shows exactly what was applied, and Why products were removed counts every exclusion.

Reading the results

Each shortlisted product card shows:

  • rank, price, star rating, review count, and Prime/discount/coupon markers,
  • a 0–100 score with a color-coded ring,
  • a plain-language explanation of why it ranked where it did,
  • an expandable Score breakdown & evidence table showing every scoring component and where each detected feature was found in the listing text,
  • a View on Amazon link that opens the original, unmodified product listing.

Unknown is never treated as false: if a product does not state a feature, it is labeled unknown, and you control whether unverifiable required features exclude a product.

Trial, upgrading, and restoring

At launch, Pro filters can be tried free on 3 searches. A trial search is counted only when Pro filters run and return at least one product; re-running or adjusting the same search stays free, even after the trial ends.

  • Upgrade after launch: choose Unlock lifetime access, enter your email, and pay once ($24.90) through Stripe. The extension detects the completed purchase automatically within seconds.
  • Restore on another computer: enter the same email and choose Send purchase restore code — a 6-digit code verifies you and re-activates lifetime access.
  • After payment: if activation does not appear, use Refresh access after payment in the panel.

Troubleshooting

  • “No standard Amazon product results were detected” — make sure you are on a normal search results page (not a storefront or deal page) and that products have loaded before running the analysis.
  • “Page changed” notice — Amazon updated the results after your analysis. Run the analysis again to refresh the shortlist.
  • Amazon asks for verification— complete Amazon's check first, then run Shortlist This again. The extension never tries to bypass it.
  • The extension was reloaded — refresh the Amazon tab and open Shortlist This again.
